Matcha Everything

I love Matcha!  

I always loved Matcha ever since I was a kid and that never changed.  Since the first time I had an Iced Matcha Green tea, it became a treat for me.  My mom served it for us only for the special occasions so it became my special kind of drink.  Anyways, Matcha dessert is my go to when I'm in Japan; Matcha Parfait, Matcha Anmitsu, Matcha Soft Serve, Matcha Cheesecake, Matcha KitKat, Matcha Chocolate, Matcha, Matcha Matcha... mucho Matcha overload!  Anything Matcha is welcomed by me.  I love all Matcha everything.  Never get tired of it!

The first Matcha dessert I had on this vacation was at Tully's.

 

I forgot what it's called but it's a Matcha Soft Serve with Mochi and Redbean paste.  It's sweet!!!  And soooo good.  It's the good old fashioned dessert with a little modern twist.  

This picture below is at another one of my favorites Green Tea Parlors in town.  I got Matcha Anmitsu Parfait.  

This one has Monaca on top of the Matcha Ice cream and a piece of roasted Chestnut a little below that.  It's the bomb!  

What's good with Matcha?  You'd ask.  It's the bitter sweetness, I think.  It's actually not that bitter.  I love the deep flavor of it.  Its layers of greentea-ness, the bitter Matcha taste and the added sweetness are harmonized in the mouth.  Oooh, I don't know how to describe it.  You just got to taste it by putting it all on your palate.  You won't regret it.  You'll have a Matcha Zen party in your mouth.  

Here's another Pafait.  This one has a Vanilla Soft Serve and a sprinkle of Matcha powder on top.  It comes with Kuzumochi, a jelly like mochi with Soy Kinako powder and red beans.  A little Matcha cakes and Matcha jellies are in the bottom layer. I just indulge myself with these classic East meets West.  

This is the last stop.  Matcha Anmitsu.  There's no doubt that I love the combination of Matcha Ice cream and White mochi balls.  Japanese invented such brilliant desserts!  I admire Matcha desserts so much that I'm proudly obsessed and I will keep on obsessing over them!

My mom served it for us              お母さんが出してくれた。　serve はレストランでウェイトレスやウェイターが食事を運んでくる、出すことを指す。　server はジェンダーが関係なくウェイター、ウェイトレスのこと。

my go to                                        私の行きつけ。My go to doctor かかりつけの医師、This shop is my go to 私の行きつけの店。

Matcha Soft Serve                        抹茶ソフトクリーム。アイスクリーム (ice cream) よりまろやかで柔らかい感じ。

mucho Matcha overload                 muchoはスペイン語でたくさん。overloadは大量、多すぎ。mucho と　matcha の音をかけている。

Never get tired of it!                       絶対に飽きない

a little modern twist                       ちょっといまどきなアレンジ。ここでのtwistは、ねじるという意味ではなく、ねじることによって違った形になる=アレンジ、という意味を持つ。口語的によく使われる。ワザ、工夫、違った感じなどとも訳できる。

It's the bomb!                                 すごくおいしい！　他にもかっこいいものや、褒め言葉としても使える口語表現。

You just got to taste it                    味合わなくてはいけないよ！　とても美味しいのでおすすめとして　got to 〜しなくちゃいけない、という表現になる。

You won’t regret it                          後悔しないよ。　will not の略　won't が使われているけど、ここでは未来系の言い方の感覚ではなく、言い切った感じの言い方ができる。

 I just indulge myself with these classic East meets West.             こういう和洋折衷な美味しいもので欲望を満足させる。indulge は甘やかす、などの意味もあり、自分の欲を満たせるような意味合いで‘甘やかす’、とも理解できる。
